Mend Your Mind is focused on bridging the gap between mental health care professional appointments. We know that wait times are long, and space for treatment is few and far between. We’ve experienced this firsthand. We offer tools and resources in a customized format: so that they work for you. It’s no secret that journaling is a helpful tool when it comes to mental health; with Mend Your Mind, you can create a fully-customized, personal journal that’s built to help you grow through what you’re going through. Not only that, with our customized trackers, you can start focusing on the essentials like your sleep or your symptoms—so your mental health appointments are better spent focusing on the future.
How it Happened
Mend Your Mind was created where it was needed most: during inpatient treatment in a Mental Health Unit in Canada.
During a severe mental health break, Taylor—the creator of MYM—was hospitalized for the second time. Within this hospitalization, there were no cellphones, no computers, no internet or social media—just time to focus on healing and focusing on the future. The psychiatrist on the unit was also only available for a few minutes for each patient, due to covering multiple hospitals and emergency rooms in the county. Eager to heal and get back home, Taylor started graphing her symptoms, sleep, and mood, so that instead of spending the majority of her time with the psychiatrist rehashing how the day was, she could present data.
What started as simple charts drawn in a hospital bed turned into an efficient system for monitoring things like sleep and symptoms to be shared with a treatment team. When time is precious with professionals, this streamlined information allowed for more time to be focused on treatment and the future, rather than rehashing the facts of the past. It also enabled everyone involved to start to predict trends. For example, a few nights of bad sleep would always lead to a dip in mood. What’s more, taking the time to reflect on the day, work through stressors in a peaceful environment, and focus on mindfulness while filling out sheets allowed the mind the rest and space it needed to start working on healing. The benefits of this journaling system were obvious.
Since then, MYM has grown and continues to grow with every customer, working to provide customized solutions to monitoring and healing. We take every suggestion and customization very seriously, and are always looking for ways to incorporate what has worked for others into our available stock.
We sincerely hope that the Mend Your Mind journaling system can help you too.
